Are Hidden Food Intolerances the Source of Your Health Issues?

Intolerances to food can cause you to feel fatigued and unfocused, gain weight when dieting, have irritable bowel syndrome, increased environmental allergies, joint pain, and provoke autoimmune symptoms.

Testing is a quick, simple and affordable procedure that can enhance your quality of life.

What is a Food Intolerance or Sensitivity?

A food intolerance, unlike an allergy, occurs over time and is not life threatening. Reactions can occur up to 72 hours after the food has been ingested, making it difficult to pinpoint which food is causing the reaction. Symptoms can include bloating, diarrhea and other digestion problems, headache, fatigue and brain fog, hives, eczema, and other itching or skin conditions, sinusitis, joint and muscle pain, and many other ailments.

The symptoms produced are a result of specific antibody exposure, which may include different immunoglobulins, yet most commonly the immunoglobulin G (IgG). In other words, the body mounts an immune response against a food it considers an invader, causing or exacerbating many health issues throughout the body. Food intolerance occurs when the body does not create enough enzymes to digest a particular food, and may be a result of repetitive eating or lack of diversity in the diet. They are influenced by antibiotics and steroids, and possibly other medications. Cross-reactivity with environmental allergens (pollen, dust, mold, etc.) can also contribute to food sensitivities.

How is Testing Done?

Testing is performed in office by obtaining a small amount of blood  finger stick blood draw. A card with your blood will be mailed to the lab, and your results will be ready in about 2 weeks with your Personal Wellness Plan based on your results and your dietary preferences. Any food reactions that occur will be graded mild, moderate, or severe.

View sample results here.

Your Personal Wellness Plan

Your Personal Wellness Plan is an 8-12 week elimination diet of the foods for which you tested positive. After the elimination phase, you will re-introduce the reactive foods on a 4-day rotation and track in your food diary any reactions that may occur.

In this way, you determine which foods are "true offenders" for you, and which may be re-introduced in moderation as a part of your healthiest diet.
